چکیده

This paper is about an example of PLEIADES applications, the 3D building reconstruction. The future PLEIADES satellites are especially well adapted to deal with 3D building reconstruction through the sub-metric resolution of images and its stereoscopic characteristics. We propose a fully automatic 3D-city model of dense urban areas using a parametric approach. First, a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is generated using an algorithm based on a maximum-flow formulation using three views. Then, building footprints are extracted from the DEM through an automatic method based on marked point processes : they are represented by an association of rectangles that we regularize by improving the connection of the neighboring rectangles and the facade discontinuity detection. Finally, a 3D-reconstruction method based on a skeleton process which allows to model the rooftops is proposed from the DEM and the building footprints. The different building heights constitute parameters which are estimated and then regularized by the ”K-means” algorithm including an entropy term.

_______________ This thesis tackles the problem of the 3D building reconstruction from very high resolution satelliteimages. The information provided by this kind of data are not accurate enough to allow an efficient useof the varied algorithms developped in an aerial framework. In this context, it is necessary to introducestrong prior knowledge related to the urban areas. The s...

Automatic Building Extraction from DEMs using an Object Approach and Application to the 3D-city Modeling

In this paper, we present an automatic building extraction method based on an object approach from Digital Elevation Models. First, a rough approximation of the building footprints is realized by a method based on marked point processes: the building footprints are modeled by rectangle layouts. Then, these rectangular footprints are regularized by improving the connection between the neighborin...

Interactive modelling tools for 3D building reconstruction

Fully automatic reconstruction of 3D city models is a topic of current research, while semi-automatic approaches are already applied for the acquisition of large databases. Examples for application areas are visualizations for architectural evaluation, town planning and city information systems as well as simulations for city climate, environmental evaluations and wave propagation. 3d Modelling of Buildings Using Laser Scanning and Spectral Information

In this paper an approach for 3D building modelling based on laser scanning data combined with spectral information is presented. Airborne laser scanners offer a new efficient method for 3D data acquisition (DEMs) in urban environment. However, for automatic building recognition and reconstruction, other 3D objects like vegetation or vehicles have to be excluded from the acquired DEM. Therefore...

Error Detection and DEM Fusion using Self-Consistency

The ability to efficiently and robustly recover accurate 3D terrain models from sets of stereoscopic images is important to many civilian and military applications. Our long-term goal is to develop an automatic, multi-image 3D reconstruction algorithm that can be applied to these domains. To develop an effective and practical terrain modeling system, methods must be found for detecting unreliab...
